FINRA Appoints Christine Kieffer to Lead Investor Education and Protection Initiatives

FINRA

Investor education remains a key priority for FINRA as the organization appoints Christine Kieffer as Senior Vice President of the Office of Investor Education. The new leadership role strengthens investor education efforts while advancing investor education programs that focus on financial capability, fraud prevention, and investor protection across the United States. The appointment takes effect immediately.

Kieffer also assumes the role of President of the FINRA Investor Education Foundation (FINRA Foundation). She brings more than two decades of experience in investor protection and financial education. Throughout her career at FINRA, she has played a central role in developing education initiatives and strengthening the Foundation’s long-term programs.

Since the Office of Investor Education was established, Kieffer has contributed to its growth and strategic direction. Moreover, she has worked closely with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and investor advocacy groups nationwide. Together, these collaborations have promoted financial capability, investor awareness, fraud prevention, and intervention programs for individuals and communities.

As Senior Vice President of the Office of Investor Education, Kieffer will oversee FINRA’s investor education strategy. Additionally, as President of the FINRA Foundation, she will guide research and educational initiatives that help Americans improve financial stability, achieve investing goals, and recognize financial fraud risks.

Marcia Asquith, Executive Vice President, Board and External Relations, who oversees FINRA’s Office of Investor Education, said: “Christine combines deep investor protection expertise with a vision for educating and engaging investors in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Christine’s dedication to investor protection spans decades—she was present at the founding of the FINRA Foundation and has developed a number of key initiatives. I am confident she will be an outstanding leader of both entities.”

Veteran Leader to Strengthen Financial Education Programs

Kieffer has earned recognition as a leading advocate for investor protection and financial literacy. Furthermore, she is widely regarded as an expert in financial and investment fraud. During her career, she has represented FINRA and the FINRA Foundation at public forums, media events, and Congressional hearings.

In addition, Kieffer has published work covering financial capability and financial fraud. Her contributions have helped increase awareness of investment risks while supporting stronger consumer protection initiatives.

Jonathan Sokobin, Chief Economist at FINRA and FINRA Foundation Board Chair, said: “Few people understand the Foundation’s mission and impact as deeply as Christine. Since the Foundation’s earliest days, she has helped shape research, education and investor protection initiatives that have benefited millions of Americans. I look forward to working with her as we continue to expand our efforts to protect and educate investors.”

Kieffer has served as interim President of the FINRA Foundation since April. Before joining FINRA 22 years ago, she held leadership positions at Sallie Mae and Nasdaq.

Appointment Builds on Decades of Investor Protection Experience

Kieffer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics from Vanderbilt University. She also holds the FINRA Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP®) designation.

Beyond her responsibilities at FINRA, she serves as Chair of the Committee Against Financial Exploitation for the National Adult Protective Services Association. Her continued leadership reflects FINRA’s commitment to strengthening investor education, expanding financial literacy, supporting fraud prevention, and protecting investors in an increasingly complex financial landscape.
