Charlesbank Announces New Leadership With Brandon White and Sandor Hau

Charlesbank

Charlesbank has announced a leadership transition as the firm prepares for its next stage of growth. Charlesbank will now operate under a broader leadership structure focused on continuity and long-term growth. The middle-market private investment firm appointed Brandon White and Sandor Hau as Co-Managing Partners. The new structure aims to support Charlesbank’s investors, portfolio companies, and employees.

Brandon White will continue leading Private Equity alongside David Katz. Meanwhile, Charlesbank has promoted Katz to Co-Head of Private Equity. Sandor Hau will continue serving as Head of Credit. Together, the Co-Managing Partners will guide the firm’s overall direction. The firm will also expand its Executive Committee. Previously, the committee included Brandon White, Sandor Hau, and Chief Operating Officer Josh Klevens.

The expanded committee will now include Managing Directors David Katz, Pedro Vaz, and Carolyn Wintner. This change broadens senior representation within the firm’s leadership team. The Executive Committee will continue overseeing firmwide management. At the same time, the structure brings additional next-generation leaders into the decision-making process.

Charlesbank Expands Senior Leadership Team

The leadership transition follows Michael Choe’s nearly three decades with Charlesbank. Choe has led the firm for the past 12 years as President and then CEO. He will now transition into the role of Managing Partner Emeritus. However, Choe will remain active within the firm’s investment operations.

As Managing Partner Emeritus, he will continue serving on Charlesbank’s Private Equity and Credit Investment Committees. Therefore, his experience will remain part of the firm’s investment decision-making process. The transition preserves continuity while expanding the firm’s senior leadership structure. It also reflects Charlesbank’s focus on developing leaders across its investment and management teams.

“The future of Charlesbank is exceptionally bright. The promotion of David Katz and the Executive Committee additions allow us to continue to deliver for our portfolio companies and investors,” said Brandon White. “We are grateful for Mike’s contributions and are confident Charlesbank will build on its history of success with the evolution of our senior leadership team. The changes announced today reflect the depth of our organization and reinforce the strong legacy of our partnership culture,” added Sandor Hau.

The firm said the updated structure will support its established partnership culture. Furthermore, the expanded committee will strengthen collaboration across Charlesbank’s senior management.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Charlesbank’s CEO, and I am proud of what we have accomplished. The depth of our team, capabilities and capital base give me confidence in the firm’s ongoing success,” said Michael Choe.

Investment Strategy Remains Consistent

Despite the leadership transition, Charlesbank will maintain its existing investment strategy. The firm’s Investment Committee processes will also remain unchanged. Portfolio company oversight will continue under the current operating model. Likewise, Charlesbank will maintain its existing approach to client service.

The firm will continue executing its investment strategy across its established areas of sector leadership. It will also retain its research-based investment process. These practices have shaped Charlesbank’s investment approach for nearly three decades. As a result, the leadership transition does not change the firm’s core investment framework.

Charlesbank said the new leadership structure will support continued execution across its investment platform. The firm will also maintain its focus on portfolio companies and investors. The addition of David Katz as Co-Head of Private Equity further strengthens the Private Equity leadership team. Meanwhile, Sandor Hau will continue directing the firm’s Credit operations.

The expanded Executive Committee adds further depth to firmwide management. It also creates broader representation from Charlesbank’s next generation of leaders. Overall, Charlesbank’s leadership transition combines continuity with expanded senior management. The firm will preserve its investment processes while positioning its leadership team for future growth.
