UBS Names New Leaders for South Wealth Management Market

UBS has announced significant leadership appointments within its South wealth management market. Consequently, this move covers Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Furthermore, the wealth management market appointments reflect UBS’s growing commitment to the region. As a result, clients and advisors alike can expect enhanced support going forward.

John Houlihan now serves as Market Executive for the South Market. In this role, he oversees both Private Wealth Management and Wealth Management businesses. Based in Atlanta, John previously served as Market Director for UBS’s Northeast region. Therefore, his extensive background brings valuable experience to this new position.

Meanwhile, Ian Roth has joined UBS as Senior Market Director. He reports directly to John and oversees the firm’s Private Wealth Management business. Notably, this role was newly created specifically for the South Market. Ian is also based in Atlanta, further strengthening the local leadership presence.

Additionally, the South Market operates under UBS’s broader Southeast Region. Regional Director Julie Fox leads this larger division. According to Fox, these appointments will further strengthen the firm’s wealth management platform in the region.

Career Backgrounds of New Leaders

John brings more than three decades of financial services experience to his new role. He joined UBS in 2015 and most recently served as Regional Market Director for the Northeast. Before UBS, he worked as a Regional Director at Barclays in Atlanta. Initially, he began his career in 1993 as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley. Subsequently, he held various leadership positions there, including Branch Manager and Complex Director across multiple states.

Similarly, Ian brings extensive expertise to his new position. He previously spent over seven years at Goldman Sachs in Atlanta. There, he managed the firm’s Southeast private wealth business. Additionally, he worked closely with advisors serving ultra-high net worth clients. Overall, Ian holds 18 years of financial services experience across several prominent firms, including SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and an MBA from Emory University.
