The Bancorp Aligns Operations With Apex 2030 Strategy

Bancorp

The Bancorp Bank, N.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Bancorp, Inc., announced another step in its The Bancorp Apex 2030 strategy. The company continues aligning its business priorities, operating model, and resources with Apex 2030. The long-term strategic plan guides the company’s efforts to build a more focused and technology-enabled organization. Meanwhile, The Bancorp is adjusting several business areas to support its future priorities.

“We have a clear strategic map of where The Bancorp is headed and are making these changes consistent with our fintech pipeline and growth expectations,” said Damian Kozlowski, Chief Executive Officer for The Bancorp. “Advancing Apex 2030 requires us to align our people, capital and technology with the opportunities that offer the greatest potential to create durable value. By simplifying how we operate and building a more focused, technology-enabled organization, we can move faster, serve our partners more effectively and sustain strong performance over the long term. We recognize that these changes affect valued colleagues, and we are grateful for their contributions to The Bancorp.”

The Bancorp Restructures Small Business Lending

Among the latest changes, The Bancorp is reorganizing its Small Business Lending business line (“SBL”). The company plans to exit retail and wholesale new originations by year-end 2026. The Bancorp, however, will continue servicing its current SBL customers.” The company will also prudently manage the existing loan book. The company has also restructured headcount in a number of other organizational divisions. These updates are in support of its ongoing efforts to streamline operational workflows.

In addition, The Bancorp plans to increase automation and artificial intelligence within its operations. The company also plans to become more disciplined in cost optimization. At the same time, The Bancorp will be deploying capital to its highest value strategic priorities. These efforts support the broader objectives laid out in The Bancorp Apex 2030 strategy.

The company expects these organizational changes to improve operational efficiency. They should also help The Bancorp focus resources on areas with stronger growth opportunities.

Organizational Changes Support Cost Savings

The restructuring will eliminate 64 currently filled positions across the organization. Those positions represent 9% of the enterprise-wide workforce. In connection with the restructuring, The Bancorp currently estimates approximately $5.6 million in charges. These costs will primarily involve cash expenditures related to severance payments. They will also cover employee benefits, outplacement services, retention payments, and other related expenses. The company expects to recognize $4.5 million of these charges during the third quarter.

Separately, 16 additional positions have been, or are expected to be, vacated. The company does not plan to backfill those positions. Therefore, the discontinuance of these 80 positions is expected to generate approximately $14 million. The savings represent annualized run-rate savings for the company. The Bancorp also previously restructured its Institutional Banking business in the fourth quarter of 2025. Together with those efforts, these efforts will deliver more than $20 million in annualized run-rate savings.

Therefore, the most recent restructuring is aimed at both cost management and operational alignment. It also reinforces the company’s broader commitment to sustainable long-term performance.

Technology Remains Key for Apex 2030

The Bancorp is seeking to improve its organizational structure to support its long-term strategic goals. Automation, and artificial intelligence, continue to be important parts of that approach. The company expects technology investments to make internal workflows easier. They can also enable faster operations and better partner service.

At the same time the company is reallocating its workforce and capital to meet its growth expectations. This is consistent with priorities established through The Bancorp Apex 2030 strategy.

In general, The Bancorp is still on course with its organizational realignment through targeted restructuring and resource allocation. The company expects these activities to improve operational efficiencies and drive future growth. The company is also continuing to focus on its fintech pipeline, and long-term strategic priorities. The Bancorp’s vision for Apex 2030 is to build a more agile organization that is better positioned to capitalize on evolving market opportunities.
