Piper Sandler Companies (NYSE: PIPR), a leading investment bank, today announced the launch of Piper Sandler equities trading in Europe. The company also opened a new office in Paris. The acquisition expands Piper Sandler’s footprint throughout the European market. It also supports the firm’s broader global equities strategy. The Paris office will be led by Ben Allen, head of sales and trading for Piper Sandler Europe. The firm has also completed two strategic hires to strengthen its European expansion.
Louis Renaudie joins Piper Sandler as senior equity sales. He brings extensive experience in institutional equities. Previously, Renaudie helped build BNP Paribas’ U.S. and international equities distribution business in Paris. His experience adds further strength to the firm’s European equity sales operations. Louis Carpentier joins the firm as a senior equity sales-trader. He previously worked in global equity trading at Edmond de Rothschild. Before that role, Carpentier helped develop Société Générale Private Banking France’s cross-asset order-flow business. His background further supports Piper Sandler’s expanding equity trading capabilities.
“We are excited to broaden our reach and offer our leading U.S. equities franchise to European clients. This marks a significant milestone in our global equities strategy as we now have approval to trade equities for European clients and better serve them with a full range of capabilities. At the same time, the demand for our industry-leading U.S. equity research and execution capabilities continues to grow internationally,” said Deb Schoneman, president at Piper Sandler.
Regulatory Approval Supports European Growth
Through Piper Sandler Europe, the firm has secured regulatory approval in France for equities trading. It has also obtained passporting rights across Europe. This approval enables the company to provide equities trading services to European clients. As a result, Piper Sandler can expand its equity sales and trading operations across the region. The firm also continues to build on its established U.S. equities platform. Its equity research platform consistently ranks among the top 10 investment banks worldwide.
According to Thomson Reuters’ Starmine, Piper Sandler maintains one of the largest U.S. equities coverage universes. This position supports the firm’s research and execution offering. In addition, the firm achieved strong recognition in the 2025 Extel U.S. Equity Trading Study. The study was formerly known as the Institutional Investor Research Survey.
The buyside voted Piper Sandler the #1 small and mid-cap liquidity provider. This recognition further highlights the company’s position in U.S. equity trading. The European expansion therefore combines regulatory access with established market capabilities. It also gives European clients broader access to Piper Sandler’s U.S. equities franchise.
“We are incredibly proud to establish our equities trading presence in Paris. This approval is a critical step in our broader European expansion. We look forward to providing our European clients with seamless access to our equity sales and trading teams, while continuing to distribute our top-ranked equity research,” said Ben Allen.
Piper Sandler Builds European Trading Team
Piper Sandler has continued investing in its European sales and trading operations. As part of its expansion plan, the firm has hired eight sales and trading professionals in total. The new hires strengthen the company’s ability to serve institutional clients across Europe. They also complement its existing equity research and execution capabilities. Last year, Piper Sandler opened an office in Zurich, Switzerland. Experienced industry veterans Alex Molloy, Vincenzo Pescuma, and Luigi Colazzo lead the Zurich operation.
The Paris office now adds another important location to Piper Sandler’s European network. The firm can use both offices to deepen relationships with European clients. Meanwhile, the company continues to expand access to its U.S. equities franchise. Its equity research platform remains a key part of that offering. The launch of Piper Sandler equities trading marks another step in the firm’s international growth. The Paris operation will connect European clients with its sales, trading, research, and execution capabilities.
The regulatory approval also gives Piper Sandler a better footing for its European equities strategy. As the firm grows its business with institutional clients, it can now forge deeper relationships in the market. The latest hires for the company also have more experience in equity sales and trading. Combined, these developments put Piper Sandler in a position to continue to grow in European equities trading.
