Global leader in financial technology FIS has revealed its new Embedded Banking Platform. This is the company’s first embedded finance offering for banks. U.S. banks can embed banking services into business software with the Embedded Banking Platform. This means corporate customers will no longer have to use different banking portals to manage their finances.
Corporate customers today increasingly want banking embedded in the software they use every day. The Embedded Banking Platform thus meets this increasing demand. It also lets bank customers open accounts and transfer money without disrupting their existing workflows. Meanwhile, bank-grade technology ensures every transaction is secure and compliant.
“Banks’ customers want banking built into the software they use to run their business every day,” said Jon Briggs, Global Head of Embedded Solutions and Money Movement at FIS. “Embedded Banking Platform lets banks meet those expectations and stay at the center of the relationship, while maintaining the regulatory control and customer ownership that define traditional banking.”
How Does The Embedded Banking Platform Work
The banks first partner with a vertical software provider or fintech. Then they put their own accounts and payments capabilities inside that partner’s product. This provides corporate customers with a fully integrated banking experience within familiar software. In the meantime, the bank is the customer relationship manager all through this process. But user satisfaction is managed by the software partner. And FIS provides the infrastructure that ties it all together.
Moreover, banks have multiple ways to implement Embedded Banking Platform. This includes APIs, SDKs, embeddable widgets and white label applications. Ultimately, it comes down to the preference of each individual software partner.
Why Embedded Banking Platforms Matter for Banks
Crucially, the customer retains full ownership as the accounts sit on the bank’s own balance sheet. This approach makes compliance many times easier than third-party virtual ledgers. This also yields a cleaner regulatory landscape and more robust infrastructure in general. “Banks can connect with customers through everyday business software instead of just direct sales.”
Embedded finance is clearly changing how banking fits into day-to-day business. So FIS created the Embedded Banking Platform to make sure banks remain at the heart of this change. It extends the reach of banks across the entire lifecycle of money. This includes deposits, accounts, payments and capital deployment, no matter where customers choose to bank.
FIS is launching the platform alongside pilot banks, including Cogent Bank, Commercial Bank of California, and M&T Bank. Accounts and payments capabilities are planned for Q4 2026.
