BitGo Holdings, Inc. today announced the launch of BitGo Global Markets. The digital asset infrastructure company designed this institutional trading and financial solutions business for scale. It unites global liquidity, execution, financing, derivatives, and settlement capabilities.
BitGo Global Markets combines the Company’s established institutional trading business with its Prime Services offering. In addition, it adds expanded derivatives, collateral management, and structured finance expertise. BitGo’s digital asset infrastructure supports the entire business. As a result, institutions can trade at scale, access capital, and manage their digital asset exposure more deliberately.
The launch follows BitGo’s acquisition of NYDIG’s institutional and trading business. The deal brought in experienced capital markets professionals across derivatives, financing, collateral servicing, and structured products. Moreover, this team applies the structuring and risk management discipline of traditional markets to digital assets. Consequently, BitGo’s institutional clients now have more services available.
Pete Janney joins BitGo from NYDIG with extensive experience in trading and capital markets. The Company has appointed him Head of Global Markets to lead the expanded business.
“BitGo has built a strong foundation across custody, liquidity, trading, financing, and settlement,” said Mike Belshe, CEO and Co-founder of BitGo. “Global Markets brings these capabilities together with deeper capital markets expertise, allowing us to support more complex institutional strategies and serve a broader range of our clients’ financial needs. Pete understands how institutions trade and manage risk, and I’m excited to have him leading Global Markets.”
What BitGo Global Markets Includes
BitGo Global Markets covers six core services:
- Institutional Execution: Spot and over-the-counter block trading runs on BitGo’s Global Liquidity Layer. This layer connects clients to deep liquidity across exchanges, market makers, and OTC counterparties.
- Prime Financing: Clients borrow against digital asset collateral to fund trading positions and manage liquidity. They also unlock the value of long-term holdings without selling.
- Collateral Management: Lenders and borrowers of digital assets have margin monitoring, collateral and clearance management. Qualified custodial holding of collateral.
- Derivatives & Structured Solutions: Options, Swaps and bespoke structures are available to eligible counterparties to hedge, speculate and reduce risk in their portfolios.
- Asset Management: Institutional investors with an interest in investing in digital assets will be able to select a range of managed strategies, private funds and bespoke solutions.
- Research: Institutional research and market insights will provide clients with analytical insight into digital asset markets.
BitGo’s digital asset infrastructure powers these services. That infrastructure includes qualified custody, trading connectivity, and Go Network clearing and settlement capabilities.
Pete Janney Outlines the Vision
“Clients who own digital assets need sophisticated solutions that go beyond buy and hold,” said Pete Janney, Head of Global Markets at BitGo. “We work with clients to understand their goals, whether that is putting idle assets to work, hedging exposure, or accessing liquidity without selling, and execute solutions designed to help them manage risk and pursue those objectives. I look forward to accelerating that work and growing the Global Markets franchise at BitGo.”
This launch is a major expansion of BitGo’s role. The Company previously provided the infrastructure that powered institutional digital asset activity. It now covers a much wider range of financial services throughout the entire trade life cycle. In addition, dedicated coverage teams help clients with their trading, financing and risk management needs. These teams help institutions ultimately access the capabilities needed to navigate digital asset markets.
