Northern Trust has unveiled banking APIs, providing real-time digital connectivity and automated access to banking data to its institutional banking clients. Northern Trust has launched banking APIs to help its Asset Servicing clients embed banking capabilities directly into their business processes. Also, Northern Trust has launched Banking APIs to facilitate payment processing, reporting and cash management with secure system integration.
The new application programming interfaces (APIs) allow clients to directly access banking services and financial data through automated connectivity. This helps organizations streamline operations and reduce manual processes. The solution also enables real time integration of banking information to existing systems, enabling clients to manage their financial activities in a more efficient way.
The API offering provides payment instructions and intra-day and end of day reporting of account balances and transactions. Real-time confirmations of credits, debits and balances are also provided to clients. These capabilities improve financial visibility and enable faster decision-making across treasury and banking operations.
Northern Trust Enhances Digital Banking Capabilities With APIs
Northern Trust’s banking APIs also offer on-demand data delivery in industry-standard formats. This helps clients get financial information into their systems faster and more efficiently. It also enables straight-through processing, enhances cash visibility and reduces manual intervention in core banking functions.
“Launching APIs for our banking clients underscores Northern Trust’s commitment to innovation and digital leadership,” said Peter Lantero, head of Banking & Treasury Services at Northern Trust. “These capabilities allow clients to tightly integrate with Northern Trust for real-time balance and transaction information, supporting the complex needs of clients as their operating models continue to evolve.”
The API platform was developed and refined in close collaboration with NAV Fund Services (NAV). As the first organization to implement the solution in a live production environment, NAV worked closely with Northern Trust’s technology teams throughout the development process. Together, both companies validated the platform across multiple banking scenarios before its official launch.
The collaboration covered numerous transaction types, including balance reporting, transaction reporting, cash management, data delivery, and practical fund administration workflows. Therefore, NAV successfully built the required integration technology to connect Northern Trust’s banking APIs directly with its platform in real time.
NAV Fund Services Supports Real-Time Banking Integration
The integration enables more efficient reconciliation while reducing operational risk. In addition, it improves access to banking data and aligns with NAV’s broader digital transformation strategy. By replacing traditional batch processing and file-based workflows, the solution delivers faster and more reliable access to financial information.
“As a fund administrator, timely and automated access to banking data is critical to supporting our clients and our operations,” said Ravi Gupta, Chief Strategic Solutions Officer at NAV Fund Services. “Bringing real-time banking data into fund administration at this level required highly technical collaboration between our teams. We worked through a wide range of transaction types and real-world scenarios together to test and finalize for launch, and we’re continuing to extend the capabilities. The resulting API interfaces eliminate the delays of batch processing and file dependencies and advance how we service our clients.”
The launch highlights Northern Trust’s continued investment in digital banking innovation. Furthermore, the new API capabilities help institutional clients improve operational efficiency, enhance data accessibility, and support faster financial decision-making through real-time banking connectivity.
