ACI Worldwide and Security Bank Philippines Establish New Benchmark for Enterprise Payments Modernization

Payments modernization

ACI Worldwide and Security Bank Philippines have achieved a major milestone in payments modernization after winning a regional industry award. The industry award was awarded to ACI Worldwide and Security Bank Corporation for revolutionizing payment systems among Asian countries. Additionally, payment modernization improves integrated processing and real-time operations. Payments modernization is continuing to change banking infrastructure across the globe.

In addition, the two companies won the title of “Best Payment Technology Initiative in Asia Pacific.”They received the recognition at The Asian Banker Global Financial Technology Innovation Awards 2026. This recognizes their work in transforming fragmented systems into a consolidated payments platform. It also enables real-time processing using ISO 20022 standards across multiple channels.

“While many payment transformation efforts focus on infrastructure modernization, this initiative delivers clear business value. By simplifying operations, accelerating time to market, and enabling new revenue models, it moves beyond modernization to creating a competitive advantage for the bank,” said Leslie Choo, Senior Vice President, Managing Director APAC, ACI Worldwide. “In partnership with Security Bank, we transformed the payments backbone, replacing fragmented layers with a unified, intelligent orchestration layer. This goes beyond speed, giving Security Bank the control, agility, and resilience to lead in a digital economy and raise the bar for the region.”

Transforming Banking Through Unified Payment Architecture

Furthermore, this strategy will encompass the whole payment orchestration layer in all segments of banking. This will include transaction processing, monitoring, investigating, and reporting in one platform. Thus, it will minimize manual labor and increase straight-through processing. Furthermore, this strategy will provide regulatory compliance and ecosystem expansion support. In addition to that, Security Bank stressed the importance of enhanced customer experience and operational scalability. The payment platform utilizes a cloud-native microservices architecture. This payment platform has an ISO 20022 native and legacy systems support. Furthermore, the implementation of this platform has resulted in a 99.99% availability rate and three times higher processing capacity.

“This transformation goes to the heart of how we serve our customers and grow as a bank,” said John Cary Ong, Executive Vice President and Wholesale Banking Segment Head from Security Bank Corporation.“Payments are no longer a back-end utility. They are a front-line experience and a competitive differentiator. Together with ACI, we have built a modern payment platform that allows us to move at the speed of our customers, scale with confidence, and innovate without being held back by legacy constraints.”
